Glossary: Ressura's words in plain words

This glossary is the one list of the words Ressura uses, in the same plain words the app and Ask Ressura put beside a term the first time it appears in a finding or an answer, when your plain-words preference is on. The preference is set from the role you chose at sign-up and can be changed under Account settings; it changes how Ressura speaks to you and never what you may see or do. The accounting terms come first in the app's list; here every term is in alphabetical order, and a term with a page of its own in Help ends with a link to it.

accrual

A cost or income counted when it happens, not when cash moves.

Activity ledger

The dated record of who changed what in your company.

admin

A member who can also manage people, billing and settings (Members and roles).

allowance

The credits a subscription adds each month, spent before any others (The monthly allowance).

Ask Ressura

The chat panel on the right where you ask about anything (Ask Ressura).

capitalise

Record a purchase as something owned, spread over the years it is used.

Connection

An outside system you linked that brings documents in by itself (Connections).

Control

One rule your documents should keep, such as the agreed price.

credits

What you spend in Ressura on documents, connected rows and questions (How credits work).

cut-off

Which month a sale belongs to.

Data Room

Where your company's documents live, contracts and invoices first (The Data Room).

depreciation

Spreading what a piece of equipment cost over the years it is used.

disposition

What you decided to do about a finding (Findings and Dispositions).

Finding

What a check found, with the figures and documents behind it (Findings and Dispositions).

Fraud Watch

The second look across every module for signs of fraud (Fraud Watch).

journal entry

A line in the books that moves an amount between accounts.

materiality

How big a mistake must be before it matters.

Module

One area of checks you subscribe to, such as Procure-to-Pay (the Modules).

Organisational context

What you tell Ressura about your company beyond its documents (Organisational context).

provenance

Where a number came from, traced back to its document (Reading a finding).

reconciliation

Checking that two records of the same money agree.

Records

Your list of suppliers, customers, employees, accounts and assets (Records).

segregation of duties

No one person can both approve a payment and make it.

top-up

A block of extra credits bought when your allowance runs low (Top-ups).
